The Process of Listening

The Chinese symbol for the verb listen has four basic elements: attention, ears, eyes, and heart. These elements are reflected in the dynamic listening process, which is made up of interacting and mutually supportive phases. The major phases in the listening process include: Threshold Listening, Critical Listening, Empathic Listening, and Constructive Listening.
